The Cause for Canonization
Mary
Virginia Merrick, Founder
Christ
Child Society
The
investigation of Mary Virginia Merrick’s life to establish a
basis for her Canonization is now ongoing. Currently, the
appointed Postulator, Kathleen Blake Asdorian, is preparing
information from the extensive writings of Mary Virginia
Merrick for presentation to the Archbishop of Washington.
Kathleen Blake Asdorian, J.D., J.C.L., was officially
appointed Postulator for the Cause of Mary Virginia Merrick
by Archbishop Wuerl in December 2007.
In 2008 a
DVD portraying the life and mission of the Christ Child
Society’s Founder, Mary Virginia Merrick, was produced and
presented at the National Christ Child Convention.
Underwritten through the generosity of Kay and Jack Gibbons
and dedicated to NCCS Past President, Regis Boyle, this
production focuses upon the Christ Child society’s mission
of service to at risk children as the legacy of Mary
Virginia Merrick.
The DVD
shows us the holiness and dedication of our Society’s
Founder as she sees the Christ Child in each child in need.
In serving each one, she is serving God. This film helps
our Society’s members to understand the intertwining of the
past with the present leading to the future. The mission is
the same; service to those children at risk especially
through direct contact – whether in 1887, or 2010 or in
future years. This is the message of the DVD now being
shown to Chapters and groups across the country.
