The Cause for Canonization
In April 2003 the National Christ Child Society announced that the Congregation for the Causes of Saints in Rome had declared Mary Virginia Merrick, founder of the Society, a Servant of God. (press release)
The decree sent in response to the letter of Cardinal Theodore McCarrick, Archbishop of Washington, D.C., states that the Congregation has no objection in preliminary steps being taken toward the potential beatification and canonization of Mary Virginia Merrick.
Rev. Msgr. Ronny E. Jenkins, S.T.L., J.C.D. was appointed the first postulator for the Cause.  In 2005, Msgr. Jenkins appointed one of his top graduate students, Jeannine Marino as a Vice-Postulator.

In 2007, Kathleen Asdorian, J.C.D. was appointed as postulator for the Cause.  She, along with a Lay Advisory Board will guide the canonization process.
